Do BlackBerry Batteries Really Suck This Much?

I am not really a big fan of RIM or BlackBerry, but unfortunately have to own several BlackBerry devices to test Ambiance with. Today I heard a "pop" coming from the far edge of my desk (as far away from me as I can put the BB's). The back of my Storm 2 device had unsnapped itself. What could cause this to happen by itself?

Yup, really. Both Storm batteries have swelled. RIM sucks.
